Energy East Deserves Support

OTTAWA, ON - Larry Maguire, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris, urged his fellow parliamentarians today to support the Conservative Caucus' motion in the House of Commons to recognize the importance of the energy sector to the Canadian economy and support its development by supporting the Energy East pipeline. The project is backed by the governments of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and New Brunswick and would dramatically cut the amount of oil traveling by rail each day and scale back our dependence on foreign oil.

Brandon, MB - Larry Maguire, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris announced federal funding to improve accessibly for those with disabilities and their families who use the Dood Cristall Family YMCA. The YMCA is receiving $14,958 through the Government of Canada's Enabling Accessibility Fund to renovate the family change room and to install a shower and change lift system to ensure that every Westman resident has the opportunity to use the pool and partake in activities.

Federal Gas Tax Fund Investments Continue to Benefit the City of Brandon

Brandon, MB - Residents of the City of Brandon and Westman as a whole will benefit from Gas Tax Funds for projects such as upgrading the Sportsplex Pool, enhancements to the wastewater treatment plant, new traffic lights, better transit service, and other projects, thanks to the Federal Government's investments in local infrastructure. In 2015-2016, the City of Brandon is receiving $2,773,118 through the Gas Tax Fund and since 2006, the city has benefited from $19,613,652 from the fund to support local infrastructure that touches our lives every day.
