A petition to Parliament is the most direct and formal means for Canadians to address the House of Commons.
As a Member of Parliament, I can present petitions on behalf of Canadians and the Government is obligated to provide a response within 45 days.
A petition must have at least 25 signatures of Canadian Citizens, and follow several other rules to be ruled in order by the Clerk of Petitions. Read the Guide to Petitions
Before a I can present your petition in Parliament it must be certified by the Clerk of Petitions. Before you gather signatures, please, contact me. I can help prepare your petition so it conforms to the rules of the House of Commons.
