BRANDON- Larry Maguire, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris, will be hosting a roundtable for Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and the public in order to seek recommendations in connection with the federal government's ongoing review of the New Veterans Charter. The Hon. Laurie Hawn, PC, CD, MP for Edmonton Centre and member of the Veterans Affairs Committee and RCAF veteran will also be in attendance.
"Bringing the concerns of local veterans to Ottawa is very important. Hosting this roundtable is one of the ways that I can make sure the voices of Brandon-Souris constituents are heard in Ottawa," said MP Maguire.
The federal government's comprehensive review of the New Veterans Charter includes an examination of the enhancements that have been made to it to date, with a special focus placed on how best to: respond to the needs of our most seriously injured service members and veterans, offer support for families and effectively deliver programs by Veterans Affairs Canada. Recommendations put forward by participants at the Brandon-Souris roundtable will be presented to the federal government and members of the House of Commons' Veterans Affairs Committee.
"I am pleased to participate in the roundtable and hear firsthand the recommendations from Brandon-Souris residents. Larry Maguire is a new Member of Parliament but I am impressed that he never misses an opportunity to raise issues that are important to the people of Brandon-Souris in Ottawa," said Laurie Hawn.
The roundtable will be held at:
Canad Inns, 1125 18th Street

Sunday, February 23rd
The roundtable is open to everyone, but interested participants are requested to RSVP to ensure enough seating is made available.
