Become a Member of Canada’s Volunteer Awards’ National Advisory Committee

I am inviting Westman residents to nominate leaders from the not-for-profit, voluntary and business sectors or to apply individually, to become a member of Canada’s Volunteer Awards National Advisory Committee.

The objective of Canada’s Volunteer Awards is to recognize and bring national prominence to the contributions individuals, not-for-profit organizations and businesses make to their communities through volunteering.

Westman has many volunteers and community leaders who would make fantastic members on Canada’s Volunteer Awards National Advisory Committee.

The Committee’s role is to recommend award recipients in partnership with the Government of Canada. Members of the Committee will be asked to review documents, assess nominations, share views and make recommendations to the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development.

Committee members ensure that Canadians are recognized for their contributions towards making a difference in their communities. The areas of contribution are youth, individuals or group volunteers, business leaders, social innovators and national lifelong achievement.

The National Advisory Committee is searching for 11 individuals with experience working or volunteering with an organization to support community development (municipality, health sector, social services sector, service provider, private or not-for-profit organization, university/college, etc.).

Nominations will be accepted until Friday, March 17, 2017 (23:59 PT). The members of the National Advisory Committee will be announced in spring 2017.
