Maguire Urges the Government to Work with Manitoba Pork Producers

I pressed the Liberal Government yet again during Question Period to work with Manitoba Pork Producers as the Minister of Agriculture has ignored calls from farmers to intervene on a decision by the Canadian Food and Inspection Agency (CFIA).

This time, the Liberal Government declared two completely contradictory things when they stated the emergency measures will "remain until the industry's concerns about the epidemic can be assessed" and in the next breath they said "there... was no need for such measures."

And it unfortunate to report that since the CFIA reinstated their old regulations last month, 2 new outbreaks of PEDv have now been reported on Manitoba farms after 16 months of being virus free.

The Liberal Government needs to start listening to the Manitoba Pork Producers and local farmers and stop putting the entire industry at risk!
