Elkhorn, MB - Larry Maguire, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris announced the Government of Canada is providing $1,000 in funding through the Celebrate Canada program to the Manitoba Automobile Museum Foundation to organize Canada Day activities in Elkhorn on July 1, 2015. It is expected the Canada Day celebrations will attract many families from across the region and over 500 local residents will partake in activities.
"Our Government is proud to support Canada Day celebrations here in Elkhorn and across the country," said Maguire. "I encourage everyone to join me on July 1 to celebrate our great country and being Canadian. Let's continue to build a better Canada, a country that our children and grandchildren will be proud of!"
The Department of Canadian Heritage provides financial support for activities organized on specific days during the Celebrate Canada period from June 21 to July 1. In 2014, the Government of Canada invested in more than 1,600 projects and events across the country under the Celebrate Canada program.
"As we approach the 150th anniversary of Confederation, I invite Westman residents to come out and take part in these events to celebrate our pride, our values, and our accomplishments," concluded Maguire. "By supporting such events, our Government is honouring its commitment to strengthen our communities and increase public awareness about our history and heritage."
